+ LEVEL UP | DRAWING

Updated: Apr 29, 2021

Struggling with drawing the human figure? Just want a refresher? Below you will find some links to videos I found helpful!

Below you will mostly find links to print materials that I encourage you to read through and reference. At the bottom, I have dropped a link for the Pinterest board I put together FULL of videos I have found very helpful in my journey. I will continue to build up this library as time goes on, so check it out & maybe follow the board if you have a Pinterest account.

BURNE HOGARTH

The man, the myth, the legend. Every art class EVER has done some sort of coverage of Hogarth's work. Good news is - there are many FREE PDF's of his books you can find online! Here are some:

GEORGE B. BRIDGMAN

BOOKS I RECOMMEND BUYING OR GOOGLING 👀

Other than all the Burne Hogarth PDF's you can enjoy for free...

Color and Light : A Guide for the Realist Painter

by James Gurney

FORCE: Dynamic Life Drawing

by Michael Mattesi

I RECOMMEND THESE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS

Will Weston Studio

One of the single greatest accounts (in my opinion) to check out when studying how to draw the figure. An absolute master at showing the structure of the form while maintaining rhythm. drawingamerica.com/Weston

Diego Lucia

A+ Gestures. If you want a good reference for what successful gestures look like, he's your guy.

The Etherington Brothers

Fantastic breakdowns of all sorts of elements when drawing & writing. Definitely worth a look, lots of valuable bits of info.

VIDEOS

You can find all the listed videos + more on the Pinterest board I've put together just for you!! Check it out here!

NOTE**

Unfortunately, to get better at art you have to understand the fundamentals. If you don't, it will always show up in your art. I know you want to jump right into the good stuff, but you've got to make sure you have a good foundation.

Chin up, get some tea, sit down and absorb all the knowledge these videos have to offer! Some are silly, some are dense, and others may seem long, but have helpful gems hidden away in them. Enjoy!

Please consider signing up for my newsletter. I will always let people know when I have updated the Pinterest board or found any helpful information!
